Elange - Saint-Isidore Chapel
No document attests to the existence of a place of worship in Elange before the construction of the Saint-Isidore chapel. At all times, the inhabitants of Elange had to go to the church of Volkrange.
the construction of a chapel (August 5, 1726), with the help of the inhabitants of Elange, they supported the cost of its construction and the maintenance of the oratory. Completed the following year, the chapel was blessed on August 7, 1727. With a very simple architectural design, the Saint-Isidore chapel - covered with hollow tiles - presents an undeniable charm in the heart of the village. It underwent some modifications, the most striking being the construction of a bell tower in 1747, the raising of its walls by about one meter in 1869 and the laying of mosaics on the ground in 1925. One of the windows of this place of worship dates from the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century, without knowing where this element comes from.
The interior was the subject of a renovation campaign in 1984, the exterior and the roof in 1990. The altar installed in 1937 comes from the church of Terville. It is surmounted by two statues, a Virgin and a Saint-Isidore dating from the XVIllth century.
